Celebrating Milestones That Matter
2025 was a landmark year for ActionAid Nigeria. We proudly marked 25 years of advancing social justice, while our Community Sponsorship Programme celebrated 11 years of driving grassroots impact. These milestones are more than numbers. They represent years of collective action, resilience, and commitment to building a more just and equitable society, made possible by supporters like you.
Restoring Hope Through Education
One of our proudest achievements this year was the Back2School Campaign. Through your support:
- Over 300 childrenreceived essential school supplies
- 80 girlshad their school fees fully covered
By removing financial barriers to education, families regained hope, and children were given the chance to learn, grow, and dream again.
Innovation Driving Community Solutions
Innovation took centre stage during our Innovation Week, where ActionAid Nigeria presented bold, community-driven project ideas to potential donors. We are delighted to share that two donors committed to funding different projects, reinforcing confidence in our ideas and the credibility of our work. This reaffirmed a powerful truth: solutions rooted in communities are both impactful and sustainable.
Impact Across Our Thematic Areas
Your support translated into tangible change across multiple sectors:
- Economic Empowerment:We established Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) across six states, strengthening household resilience and enabling women and families to access savings, loans, and financial security.
- Humanitarian Response:Over 200 young people were empowered with vocational skills and livelihood opportunities, supporting their transition into dignified and productive work.
- Food and Agriculture:Smallholder women farmers were supported to adopt agroecological best practices, improving food security while promoting sustainable farming.
- Youth Engagement and Governance:Young people were mobilised to amplify their voices, actively demanding accountability, justice, and good governance within their communities.
We are especially grateful to AIICO, whose outstanding support in 2025 significantly strengthened the reach and depth of our Community Sponsorship work. This partnership demonstrates the powerful impact of corporate commitment to social change.
