Season’s greetings from ActionAid Nigeria! Welcome to another amazing holiday season and the close of a fruitful 2021. As the year draws to a close, I just want to say THANK YOU again for your enthusiasm and generosity to ActionAid and the sponsored communities.
It has been a pleasure partnering with you this year and I am always awe-struck by your commitment towards ActionAid Nigeria’s Community Sponsorship Initiative.
Your support this year helped us reinforce our work on education, fight against infanticide and bridging the digital divide. Two hundred and forty (240) out-of-school children in Maiduguri were supported back to school and 30 other children in Badagry Lagos were adequately kitted for school.
Youths in Leleyi-Gwari community in FCT were trained on advanced ICT skills following the construction of the ICT centre and an initial basic ICT training. This is part of our commitment to bridging the digital divide which is becoming more evident with the pandemic.
Our efforts at abolishing infanticide in FCT are still ongoing. Communities are still be sensitized against the barbaric practice of killing children or multiple births and others; we are working with various Government agencies to address the multiple needs of the communities and ultimately, the construction of the new site for rescued children still living in Vine Heritage Home is still in progress.
This year saw ActionAid partnering with more corporate organisations to address the specific needs of various communities. So, I sincerely appreciate the organisations like AIICO Insurance PLC, Oakwood, Pazino, Nem Insurance, Hawthorn Suites, Cornerstone Insurance PLC Foundation, Yaliam Press, Goodview Hotel, Abbeysteph and Precious HMO all who supported and yielded our call to give.
On behalf of ActionAid Nigeria, the Board, and all sponsored communities, I say THANK YOU!
Please take a minute to watch ActionAid Nigeria’s Board Chair’s message to you.
I look forward to catching up with you again in 2022 but in the meantime, I wish you and your family joy and good cheer during the holidays!
