Food and Agriculture

No Woman No Nation! No Farmer No Food!

The Right to Food (R2F) programme of ActionAid has as its underlying principle, the right of every individual to be free from hunger especially women and children.

This right has a binding obligation well established under international laws such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women.

The programme is focused at addressing key challenges small scale farmers ‑ especially women face in the effective engagement of agricultural governance, access of women farmers to and control of land, agricultural inputs and credit facilities and the promotion of pro-poor policies and practices to ensure food right.

The programme is designed to fit into the overall ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) organizational Country Strategy paper (Fighting Poverty in the midst of Plenty 2) and the contextual analysis of food rights issues in Nigeria.
